6.7's that blow up for no reason
On a completely unlrelated forum, I saw a 5.9 driver claim there have been hundreds of 6.7's "blow up for no reason". My 6.7, knock on wood, is doing fine. How many of you 6.7 drivers have had them blow up for no reason? Any validity?

Yea, this sounds like another "them 6.7's are nothing but junk" thread/rumour. What people need to realize is the 6.7 is basically a 5.9 bored and stroked. People do not like change and when they don't understand it, they get scared and start saying stuff that is unsubstantiated. (the Ford 6.0 is another topic for a different time/discussion)
I have heard about a couple of 6.7 failures, but I've also heard of couple of 5.9's too. Anything made by man is not, can not and will not be perfect every time. There WILL be failures. I just do my research and pick the best product I can, with the least amount of issues at that time.
Google it, there are some 6.7 issues but they are almost all related to emissions, once they have been addressed, the problems have gone away. I had emission issues on ours, but "suddenly" they went away...

Top's Younger Twin
I lost a 5.9 in my 04 Ram running completely stock, dropped a valve and just outside the 100K mile warranty and got denied warranty.
This 6.7 I have here now is doing better then that 04 engine. I am at least 35K miles past it and as mentioned...after I dealt with the emissions stuff, the truck has been very good to me.
Theres a few folks that will embellish issues and blow them out of proportion in order to gain some kind of shock and awe with unsubstantiated and non factual crap.
No matter who you talk to...if they have facts or first hand experience, I bet they will know of an engine that had issues...no matter what the brand.
As for blowing up for no reason. That in itself makes no sense and if it was happening, I am sure it would be traveling the internet like wildfire.
Glad you are asking and rest easy.

I have worked for Chrysler for a couple different times and NEVER had we changed a 6.7 motor out other than the one that caught on fire from the owner wiring some repo hitch in into and shorted a 4ga wire

Oh go build a crate and ship yourself to Abu Dhabi....
Some people are just naturally pessimistic. Especially the guys who dont even own 6.7 but love to talk down on them.
Sure, some 6.7 have had issues with the emissions, but put up a poll about how many guys have deleted em and have had trouble. Id be willing to bet it would run less than .5 percent.
