In 8 months and 2300 miles no trips to the dealer other than a free oil change.

Don't consider the G-30 recall as a problem since I didn't have any problems before the recall. About 8K on the truck now and still no problems or codes thrown.

6 months and 5900 mile with no problems, love the truck. I had a Ford 6.0 and you want to talk problems!

I had my truck to the dealer once. After that I gave up on what they had to offer when it comes to intelligent answers for the codes I and others have had. I learned on my own that some of the codes where simply rationality codes that something did not quite match up to what the ECM wanted. I purchased my own obd unit for clearing codes and have never gone back for anything other then fuel filters.
With the ability to run off road up here I have managed to get 19 mpg running empty with the cruise set at 110 kilometers per hour. On a good day I can net over 20 and my best was 22.3 hand calculated...that was in the mountains where the speed was rarely over 100 KMH. Towing power and mileage has improved as well. I now have 78600 miles on this truck.

I am considering the same thing, trading my 04.5 for a new '08. Seems to be the time to buy. Do you have the drive the '08's hard to blow them out so you don't get a clogged DPF? I do mostly highway driving everyday and some city driving also. I will not mod the new truck performance wise so I can keep the warranty intact for the small issues some guys are having. Any input would be appreciated, and sorry to hijack the thread.

I have had it in the shop 2 times. I have 18000+ miles on it and the 2 times were for: 1) The truck would start and run like it lost 2 cylinders!!! That was corrected by the flash. I had the flash done around 5000 miles?? 2) The fuel mileage. This is a TSB and I was told the newer the trucks have an updated turbo and mine will need to be cleaned. If that doesn't work the dealer tells me my turbo will need to be replaced. I guess I will have my truck in the shop 3 times before to long.
Bill Davis, and anyone else, what luck have you had with the turbo cleaning? I'm only getting 12-13mpg empty (hand calculated) and much less if I drive it hard at all. The best I have got is 14.7 and that was with my wife driving it at 35 behind some SLOW driver!

I just got my truck back last night and they did not clean the turbo. They said they found excessive fuel in the return. They also siad the injectors were loose so those were retorqued and my speedo was recalculated. I told them my fuel milage was calulated by hand with a GPS and NOT the overhead console. They said give this a try for 2 weeks and see what happens. I already see what is going to happen. The overhead console was showing better but I will be putting my GPS to use again!

13 visits in 44,000 miles...all emmissions system related....Turbo replaced, EGR, sensors, cooler cleaned, turbo drilled, tapped and cleaned. If you can keep the CEL off, it runs like a scalded cat.

My cleaned turbo lasted three days. The CEL came on again, and back
to the dealer. Dodge said replace it.
We ran empty 435 miles at 70 mph with the E-brake on. The overhead
showed 18.5 overall. Coming back we ran 75-80 mph and the overhead
showed 17.4. I did notice a slight hesitation during acceleration in the
top gear. Acceleration in 5th gear from 60 mph to 80+ mph is awesome.
GOOD NEWS--we found fuel for $3.95/gal in Oklahoma City. Go Flying J.
