Hey I agree with you guys saying that younger guys shouldn't buy new trucks. I am 20 years old and in college but I have a situation where I work on a farm with my dad. So I have been able to purchase a '97 Dakota with the 5.2L V8 to replace my '89 Ram, a '95 X-Cab for everyday and about 1.5 year ago bought a '03 Quad Cab with the 5.9L just for special occasions. The last one is now completely in my dad's name cause I have started looking for a Cummins. Found one but it fell through, and the last thing I need is biting too big of a bullet right now. My dad has the '97 Cummins which we use on the farm and I have fell in love with the cummins every since he bought it. There is no need in any one putting a truck over everything else though.

Sorry but I disagree. If we did not have dreams and did not reach a little bit we would never achive our dreams. If I only did what people said I could I never would'a could'a shoud'a,that being said it kept me awake many times trying to figure how I was going to pay but that just made me get another job.

To a point, brother. Do not sacrifice your family or your future for a fancy 60thousand dollar truck.

I agree about pushing yourself to achieve your goals! That says a lot about you that you have drive and determination. People just need to know where to draw the line. Some of these younger guys dump a mint on trucks and all the goodies just to have a status symbol and have a "NICE RIG" but when it is all said and done it is going to do nothing but go down in value. You can do tons of work on them in the aftermarket area and the truck value not go up at all. Just a giant hole you throw money at!

Take that $55k you will spend on a truck over 5 years and put it in a stock or mutual fund and then in a few years buy it cash and have tons of money made in interest. To me not worth stressin over something that goes down in value the day you buy it!

Looking good and being broke is more akin to a nightmare than it is a dream. Not to pick on you or anyone in particular but truthfully if you have a car payment all of your life you'll never have anything. Some day if you ever have a chance check out the book "The Millionaire Next Door". Your typical first generation American millionaire drives an old paid for vehicle and doesnt care what anyone thinks about their ride. When Sam Walton died he was still driving the same old beater farm truck he'd had for thirty years. Warren Buffet lives in a modest middle class neighborhood in Omaha, Ne. Did you happen to notice what Luke said he drives? I'm not wealthy and in hindsight my Ram purchase was a mistake but at least it is paid for.
