Now just hope they get here without any problems so we wouldn't have to reorder, could not go through this again for at least another year. Waited way too long for this truck.

Trucks are not all there is to life young fella. I see a lot of young guys that come and buy trucks from me that put themselves into a hole they can hardly ever get out of by having to have the biggest badest ram the can afford when they are 18 or 20 years old. I run two dealerships, and the newest vehicle I personally own is a 1993 Ram 250.

I totally agree with Luke, don't over extend yourself! My son bought a new Dodge not even a year ago. He started buying all kinds of crap on credit and then his job went away. He had his truck repoed about 2 weeks ago. Dumb kid, won't listen to his father. Your better off driving an older pickup and not getting swamped with a huge payment.

I'm paying CASH for mine, no payments for this boy.

Here here! You are a lot better off than most people I see Steve. A lot of these people come in and have to borrow the money to pay their sales tax to. I always thought if you had to do that you probably ought not be doing it. I used to try to talk some of these young fellas out of buying a $30-50k truck, but they'd just get mad at me, and then go buy one from somebody else. So I started to think, well somebody is gonna get their money, just as well be me? New trucks are a lot of fun. It is hard for me to sit here and look at all these new beauties every day, but I'll take more financial security over a fancy new Dodge in the driveway anyday.

Good point Luke.

This site http://www.automotive.com/auto-loans...loan-tips.html

Says no more than 20% of NET income should be used for a car payment. So for some general figures, if you make $50,000 a year and take home $30000 your max payment should be $500 a month. That will not buy a new truck.

This site is even more conservative. http://money.cnn.com/2003/10/21/pf/a...much/index.htm

No more than 8% of gross. If you have no other debt. Thats $333 a month.

I am not saying people should quit buying, I'd go out of business if they did. I just think so many people get the fever so bad, especially young people, that they think life will not go on if they don't have these fancy trucks with another $10g's worth of crap added on and paid for by the good old plastic. People don't stop to think what these payments add up to. $500-$600 a month or more don't seem like much to em, but it adds up to a heck of a lot over time. If they could get by with something a little less glamorous and put some of that $600+ a month truck payment to work in some kind of investment they'd be soooooo much better off.

I would pay cash, but dc canada has a 0% interest over 60 months, might as well use their money. For me to buy that same truck, retail allmost 70k, my price 62k.
