Unhappy 6.7 Injector Failure After 70 Miles On It

Just Purchased A New 07 With 8 Miles, Went From A 99 F350 With 7.3 For This Truck. Drove Truck For 70 Miles And Started To Knock With A Misfire, Dealer Says Its A Injector But Parts Not Available? Could Be A Week Or Could Be A Month.
Anyone Had A Problem With Their 6.7??

That sucks. If its any consulation sometimes it takes a few miles to get the bugs out. Just be glad their not pulling the contaminated fuel bit and trying to make you pay. Although you are probably on the tank they gave you with the truck. Dont give up on the old Cummins just yet, shell come around.

I would be telling the dealership to pull on off a truck in the lot.... and let them deal with star and the down time.

I second that. I've done nothing but change fluids and rotate the tires on my 07 cab and chassis, as of right now, 39,188 miles. No problems at all.

You should call Cummins direct to see what the availability is... otherwise - the dealer needs to pull an injector off a truck on the lot to get you back on the road!

Make them give you a new truck......If not have them boroscope the cylinder hole WHILE YOU ARE THERE.......lets see how the top of the piston looks....could have broken a injector tip off.

In colorado you get 3 days to change your mind on a major purchase. I would simply hand them back the keys and point at another one on the lot. Yeah, I'll take that one instead....thanks.

I would bet you a dollar to a donut they have yours running by the end of the day at that point.

I don't know about now but didn't Dodge have a 30 day trial and if unhappy return the truck??? If so I would offer your dealer 1 day to get it running correctly or "Sorry I'm unhappy and want to return it". In the long run you might be better if you can return it and get another. Wish I had done that on my 04.5 instead of loosing money and buying the 07 that replaced it.

If the above fails then Good luck but as some have suggested, see if Cummins had injectors in stock also and if so demand the dealer either remove one from an in stock truck or order one from Cummins.

Yeah I second donhov I didn't take my 05 back for some problems and now i'm about to buy an 07 after having to deal with the all the problems they wouldn't cover under warrenty. If i had taken it back the first day and gotten another that would have been the wisest thing I had ever done.

This is exactly what the warrantee is for; obviously there was a defect in that injector to drop one that quick. I’d have them either give you a new truck off the lot or pull an injector off another new truck.

70 miles? You probably weren’t even home yet. Any dealership in their right mind should been over backwards to help you out in this situation.
