think he was referring more towards if you don't demand a diesel, why have one? Pretty tough to quantify a diesel in todays fuel prices if you only use to commute A-B or short trips etc.. Most buy diesels for the pulling power alone.

hmmm. I think he was referring to the DPF. If you don't drive 55 then it will cause you problems so don't buy the diesel. If that would be true then they should have warning stickers on the truck.

WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU, THIS TRUCK CAN"T BE DRIVEN NORMALLY.IF YOU GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC IT WILL BREAK DOWN DUE TO IDLING.WE RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU GET IN A TRAFFIC JAM TO DRIVE 55 DOWN THE MEDIAN ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.WE HAVE INSTALLED A DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER IN YOUR NEW DODGE AND HAVEN'T PERFECTED THE TECHNOLOGY.YOU WILL BE BETA TESTING THEM FOR US AND WE WILL BLAME YOU FOR ANY FAILURES. THANKS

I like the crock about not driving it hard enough because they can't get the emissions to work correctly, they should state that on the window sticker before you buy it. My brother had a Jetta, and my dad a Benz, and they never had I special way to drive it, just get in and turn the key, they always try to blame the owner. If it's not ready for the real world don't sell it, reminds me of Microsoft.

I got 1900 miles on my truck and have not towed any thing yet or taken any road trips. No cels mils. For the most part 14MPG and thats with my foot in it. I gues I led foot it to keep the emmisions in check. I think the 6.7 rocks. Why would i want to trade down?

I've been stuck in Houston TX traffic, Dallas TX traffic, and Oklahoma City traffic for hours and never had a problem, I also drive around my ranch for several days in a roll and never had a problems. If you are complaining this much about the truck then you obviously don't need it.

I am saying if you never drive over 55 why did you buy a truck that is made to pull and pull only? I don't under stand why someone would by a truck like this just because of it's looks and then complain because it does not act like grocery hauler.

Bought my truck to tow a 10k# camper .. but I can't tow it everyday and certainly can't tow it to work with me. Geesh, you guys lighten up already. Some of us tow with these things and use them for daily drivers too. I'll be damned if I'm parking a $45k truck in the driveway permanently attached to my camper and not driving it unless "working" it.

You know it mikebol. I have the 5.9, but still.. I have a huge camper, but I only tow it about 5 times a year. The rest of the year, I like owning it for the POWER. Whether its blowen the doors off someone, or going to get groceries, its nice to have ALL THAT TRUCK whether you need it or NOT. And yes, to look cool because everyone on here feels that way when your driving your Kick Edit Cummins around. If not for the looks, then for the sound of it. Rigsy 340, everyone buys thier trucks for different reasons. I personally use mine for a lot of other things, but if a guy spends 50k on a truck, he can do what he wants with it. That includes complaining about mileage. That is part of the package deal.

You pay 40 or 50 grand for a pickup it should perform weather you pull something or not. Congrats on the trade.

You are correct, wether pulling horses or using it as a grocery getter. The 6.7 is a heck of a engine and there is no go back to new 5.9's at this point (unless you find a used one). If they ever get the the emissions corrected/perfected, the 6.7 will even be better than the 5.9. Dodge knew there was a problem with the system. Why would they change the warranty on 2007 6.7 emissions to 50000 mi warranty from 2007 5.9 100,000 mi/5yr warranty???? ummmm.
I realize we have to live with the epa crap however no one from Dodge said anything to us not idling there trucks in the field when were picking up hay or general farm/ranch work when they sold the vehicles to us...

Yes, I traded down for a new 5.9 and it cost me about $4000 to do so. But I keep trucks for a long time. It depends on what you do with your truck and willing to pay for work on the DPF system when your warranty is over.

Extended idle time has been discouraged even back to the 12 valve days. Did anybody happen to read the little tag hanging in the new trucks that had a short explanation of the DPF equipment and the procedure that you take if the overhead warning appears?
