6.7 Engines and Ball Joints
6.7 Engines and Ball Joints
OK guys - correct me if I'm wrong here, but it's my understanding that a lot of the ball joint failures on diesel engine equipped pickups (not just Dodge - I had to replace all of 'em on my 97 Ford PSD too) are due to a) having the manufacturers install those fantastic 'lubed for life' pieces of doo-doo, and b) the weight of the diesel engines and trannies.
Does anyone know a) how much more the 6.7's weigh than the 5.9's did, and b) does anyone that has a truck with the 6.7 checked to see if the manufacturers have gotten smart and installed greaseable ball joints?
Just wondering....

I think he meant to say "The 6.7 doesn't WEIGH enough..." I'm sure I'll be accused of something that I don't want to be accused of, but the grammar on this entire site is horrible. Not that we're here for grammar, but geesh people, where did everyone go to school?
anyway, i dont think the 6.7 weighs much more than the 5.9 since its just punched and stroked. i suspect the weight difference is neglible and i doubt that they finally got some sense and put ball joints with zerks on them....
Hey!! I just gragimataded form hgih skool so b niece!!haha
Yeah right, Dodge will never put grease zerts on stuff that would make it last longer like the old parts use to!!
6.7 isn't gonna be much heavier just a bored and stroked 5.9!

I am not suppose to take offense with the way your talking to me?
You don't know what kind of person I am and I really don't care what kind of person you are.
I was just trying to answer the guys questions about weight of engines, since I happen to know the answer.
Sledpulling is one word where I come from......

Don't know about the pickup models, the C&C models have greaseable tie rod ends, but not ball joints.
