6.7 engine brake
I just got my 6.7, I have had 5 different dodge diesels, this 6.7 is a lot different but I love it so far. I haven't looked into it yet but I was trying to figure out how the engine brake works on my 6.7, is it an exhaust brake? Or an actuall engine brake? When I use it u can here it and it sounds like a semi, I had an exhaust brake on a 2000 cummins and it sounded nothing like my 6.7. Thanks!
Its an integrated exhaust brake performed by the turbo nozzle. Basically the turbo nozzle pinches down to provide the back pressure for braking. It works better than aftermarket IMHO as it is pressure regulated. That is, the engine manages exhaust brake pressure to give you the most retard at all RPMs. I like it and use it all the time.
Also it works great for cold weather warm up. You can engage the brake on start and high idle to really get the engine warm in a hurry.

The engine brake and that 6 speed auto is phenomenal. It slows heavy loads down amazingly well. I can tell you from personal experience that on ice, the engine brake is an interesting ride...
Cummins/Holset VGT with a sliding nozzel acts as a exhaust brake. Cummins doesn't offer a engine brake for the 5.9 or 6.7 engine.
The 5.9 exhaust brake has around 180 hp for braking vs 240 hp for braking for the 6.7 Holset VGT. Great stuff.................
EDIT;
I tried to post the Holeset VGT web but my DA internet provider stops it
