6.7 Break-in Period?

I'm considering replacing my '06 with an '07 6.7/AT....tired of the 48RE trans...

Can this thing tow right off the lot or should there be a break-in period?

They recommend the first 500 miles to not tow anything heavy, this is just for the gears to set up on the rear end. After that the heavier and the more you tow with it, the quicker it will break in.

oops.. i guess i didnt wait the 500 miles before towing... I had about shy of 200 before i hooked on to about 7000 lbs... Bought the truck 1 full week ago, now have 1200 miles on it... most of which were towing between 7000-9000 lbs.. Getting 9-10 MPG towing.. and 13-14 with no trailer..

Don't worry about it. My last two trucks have started out towing the day they were bought, and not light. My 2003 pulled 18,000 lbs 250 miles and the 7500 lb trailer back on the first day. I sold it last Nov with 345,000 miles on it and never had any rear end problems other than replacing axle seals at 270k. My 07 cab and chassis start the same way, a heavy tow on the first day and every day since. Put in service on Nov., 21, 07 Now have 37,143 miles on it, all I've done is change the fluids.
