6.7 Poll

Bought my 6.7 below on7/11/07,put 700 miles locally non-towing,& then 7040 miles towing my Alfa 14,000 5er out NM & surrounding states off I-40 ,I-20,& I-10.The 3500 dually pulls my 5er with very little effort, the 6spd auto is fantastic with the built in exhaust brake.I had the change oil come at 3332 miles, changed oil in Albuquerque,NM .Had the oil change light come on again in Panama city beach,Fl ,changed oil in Brandon,FL.Had no other problems.Love the auto,& the built in exhaust brake.I transfered my 51 gal fuel /tool box from 2003 3500 SRW,6spd manual 5.9 HO,and the gravity flow system continues to work just fine, probally about 60,000 miles between the 2 trucks.I love driving the new 6.7 auto,Dually pulls great! I just had the G30 recall done friday,we'll see. Patrick

flattman, i was reading your sig and remembered that i needed to let some of you guys know that you can get the playboy channel with sirius radio. Its free, you just have to call sirius to have them program it to your radio. Only took em about 2 minutes to do mine. Well worth it! I wasnt aware of any of this til i went to Sirius radios website to get a list of all of the channels.

Also when i remember to take some pics of the truck with the recent addition of smoked recons, ill send you some pics. It looks pretty sweet so if you have been thinking about cab lights for your truck it may help your decision.

Sorry for taking over the thread lol

This is my first diesel truck and I bought a 2008 Mega cab 2500, 4x4 with a 6 speed auto, so no choice in engine type. I needed this to pull a 5er , my gas truck was getting 7 to 8 MPG when pulling. Driving auround town 10 MPG and on the highways no more then 13 MPGs.The 6.7 seems like a good engine so far, mileage will never be as good as the non EPA regulated engines but all diesels in the future willl be the same as far as polution controls. Look what the gas engines went thruogh at first.

True dat!!! LOL. How could anyone justify trading back for the 5.9?

Love the power of the 6.7
no problems so far (1300miles)
like the "green factor"
can't wait for the aftermarket to come rushing in...

Funny thing is all these peeople who went back to 5.9 are gonna want the 6.7 back now that the aftermarket scene is coming and most problems fixed. LOL to bad they probably took a nice hit on there loans to trade in for an older truck, and if they want the 6.7 again, they gonna have to take another. ALL and ALL, if they were to do that, they probably be 10k under. LOL either way, my truck flies like the wind stock and once my smarty and HS come in, I will be happy as hell. Just my 2 cents for all the peeps who couldnt hold out.

PS I cant wait to be puffin out blak smoke, I hate this clean crap

I had the 6.7. Ran good loved the trans, but the mileage was horrible. Plus I like to tinker with my trucks too much, Smarty, injectors, turbo, ect ect....
Went back to the truck in signature and never even thought about looking back..
Kudos to all of you happy 6.7 owners, May the force be with you...

I have had 3 5.9 had the compression brake installed in all. Can say that the 6.7 auto is great and the power is wonderful. Would prefer better milage but only have 3k on truck now. Will see what happens when broke in. Dad after driving my 6.7 traded in his 5.9. Guess we both found more pro's than con's. No error codes at this point, of course I've only had the new truck a month. Sure wouldn't shy anyone looking at the 6.7 away.
Of course now this will depend on what happens just set off two codes yesturday p0128 and p1451. when I bought the truck dealer said that it had the most recent flash updates. Wondering if this is a cold weather issue after researching codes.

Found I have a few codes...on my 6.7.

1451...2580...0102...2228...0073...0128

I looked at Allpar but some of these are not on there.

Six codes, truck runs fine but it would be nice to know what they all are.

I was very scared to buy a 6.7 after reading about all the issues people were having with them. I was scared to buy a 5.9 w/ the auto trans too after having two of them w/ issues and when I couldn't find a 5.9 loaded the way I wanted I decided to take my chances on the 6.7. I did some research and it seems that most of the issues were gone for the 08s. Last weekend I drove 460 miles one way to get my new truck. About four times on the way I asked myself what the heck I was doing going that far to buy something that may have problems. Well, I've only had it a few days but man this is a great machine so far. This six speed auto is just awesome and the engine makes tons of power.
JUST DO IT!!!!

My mileage is not that great either but once I get my new brake controller installed I'm going to pull my trailer around for a week to help break the engine in. It usually takes a Cummins about 10,000 miles to get broken in and usually around that point is where the mileage goes up. The harder you run it the quicker it will break in. Going by the overhead I am getting 16mph hwy at 75mph and I'm hovering at about 13 in the city. That is only 1 point less on both that my 07 5.9 got when it was new......

All the 6.7 talk has me eager to check one out and take it for a drive. I don't intend to buy, I never buy new but I would like to see what the talk is about.
