4x4 operation?

Hey guys quick question. I have a 07 mega. Got it toward the end of last snow season so never used 4x4. Question is are they shift on the fly? We got our dirst snow the other day I was only going 30 or so turned the **** but theb 4x4 light just flashed. I pulled over to a stop and then it went in. Also won't go out unless I stop. Is this normal? I have all the latest flashes which from what the dealer told me drops the reverse idle down to keep the torque down to protect driveline....... dunno if this is an update or not

Yeah, they're shift on the fly, but I always kick it into neutral or at very least stay off the throttle when shifting in or out..

It's possible that even though you where coasting there was enough load on the drivetrain to prevent the shift.

I have shifted mine in a hwy speeds before without issues. Lol

You trying to go in to 4-hi right? Not 4-low. They are shift on the fly into high range only.

Yeah 4 hi. I know how its supposed to work haha. The question pertains more to the updates than how I do it. Ill have to mess around with it

I've never heard or any such updates or flashes for this. Maybe you have some binding going on somewhere. I tend to think its a mechanical issue

Differences in tire roll out from front to rear could cause such a problem.

So. The tire is what I though. If fronts are aprox 4/32 and rears are 14/32 that could do it?

It should shift on the fly, mine does, but just let your foot off the accelerator as it shifts.Light throttle is OK,but not heavy. You dont need to go into neutral. It will go into 4 hi even at 50 mph.4 lo though is different, rolling at a crawl and in neutral and then turn the ****,you need to be moving ever so slightly. If the throttle is too much going from 4 hi to 2 hi,the 4 hi light goes out but you can still feel you are in 4 hi when you turn so just le your foot off the throttle again and alow it to shift.

Yes because drive shaft speeds will not match. It could be the cause.

Guess its 2 reasons to replace tires haha. Or 3 1 half wore. Causing bad vibration(gdont believe this) and now this. However I don't buy that the tires are the cause either. Were talking 2 additional revolutions. Per mile. Everything worked fine till I took it to the dealer haha. But they lost one wheel nut. Broke another. My high idle doesn't work. Getting terrible mileage grrrrr. Stupid warranty
