3.73's vs 4.10's

Which do you think is better for towing average load of 20,000 pounds
4.10's or stock 3.73's with the new 6 speed auto??? There will be alot of highway driving and so how will that effect rpms and mpg..
Im guessing an extra 300 rpms. Any suggestions. I was aiming towards 3.73's but now im having 2nd thoughts. Anyone with a 4.10 setup wanna comment

With 20k lbs in tow I'd get 4.10s for sure.

Not once have I regreted getting 4.10's. Never comes out of overdrive around a curve up a hill, nothing. When the TC locks up I will say it is gone....

Forgot to say I get 12-13 MPG towing.

With either set of gears you will be over your GCWR if you tow 20,000#. For a 1 ton dually with 3.73 the GCWR is 21,000#, with 4.10 the GCWR is 23,000#.

I ordered 4.10's for the increased tow rating, and that I went to larger tire size. I am very happy with my truck, but the mileage is not as good as I expected. 13 - 15 combined city / freeway, although mostly freeway. 9 - 10 towing, but my trailer is a bit heavy at 12k lbs.

I'd rather have 3.73's for my just driving around mileage cuz I do more running around then towing. Only tow about about 2 - 4 times a year. But after towing with the 4.10's it makes a big difference for sure and I wouldn't trade them now. The 4.10's are better in terms of reliability anyway because the trans doesn't have to work as hard even when its unloaded.
