Thumbs up 1st time post: same **** problem

Hi everyone: Iv'e been reading about the problems w/the 6.7 EGR....

GUess what??? I took mine to the dealer yesterday. I couldnt get any codes to comeup, but the truck was bucking & running like crap with the CEL on.

Talked to the Service Manager,& guess what he said the DPF or EGR system and turbo could be causing problems.

Thanks to reading the forum I have a good idea on what's happenin'

Thanks guys

Chris, welcome to the forum. The 6.7 is going to be a frustrating for a while until they get the bugs out of it.

Talking

Thanks for the reply. That's the reason I almost bought the truck w/ the 5.9.

But when I drove the 6.7, the off the line power and quietness, I was SOLD.

Soon, they will come out with a 12 valve conversion to fix the electrical mess!!!!!!
And maybe apologize for screwing up a good engine.

I'm not even getting in one, I might like it too. I've got all the power I need. Truth is I've got more than the clutch can take now. I would like to have an exhaust brake though.

Welcome to the club Chris.
We are figuring out how to fix these issues and we will report to Chrysler when we have it perfected. We are very close...
Just read my sig. (The part that sticks out...)

Don't wave the white flag yet, as there are just as many running 6.7's and not having issues. Not accusing, but you may need to look at your driving habits especially around town or at lower speeds. Chrysler issued a DVD with Sam Memmolo about the 6.7 and these issues. It's available from your local dealer as a warranty item along with an appropriate ECM flash/update.

I just had my EGR assembly replaced by a dealer 2 days ago (25,700 mi). Other parts replaced over the past 18 months:

1. Turbo
2. Radiator (sprang small leak)
3. Faulty front engine oil seal
4. (2) O2 sensors
5. A few computer flashes.

Still love the truck, though. I hope they'll get the bugs worked out.

Good points Chris!

I don't own a 6.7, but did hear a presentation this summer from some Dodge/Cummins Engineers on the new Dodge CTD CR 6.7 Engines and the problems they are seeing with the EGR Systems, the turbos, DPF's etc.
Their advice (which surprised me) was to "Drive the trucks like you stole them!" Meaning,.....don't be afraid to run them hard. I talk to alot of "hot-shot" drivers who tow with the new 6.7's all across the U.S. and
none of them I have talked have experienced hardly any of these problems, probably because they are running then hard and keeping them "cleaned out."

I wish I would have bought a 5.9. I got one of the first 6.7's and it's nothing but trouble. Don't know what I'll do when the warranty is up, may just sell it at a loss and get an older truck.

Well, the good thing is the truck is paid for. And I love scaring the crap out of those little jap cars at the stop lights. Then, get on the freeway and pass em doing 80

On the down side, the truck is kinda my toy. Drive to work in a JAP CRAP. So, truck doesn't get out much. It pulls the boat in the summer, trips to Home Depot that's about it.... Iknow, Iknow i baby it toooooo much.

Guess ill just have to run the crap outa it

Or cut some crap out of it.

Steven K, If you really like your truck other than the problems then I would highly suggest you look at some of the topics in this 6.7 forum about deleting parts. I had issues with my truck but I like it too much to get rid of it. I love the truck now. Mileage is way up and she sounds off now too. I'll have to deal with emissions in two years but I already have a plan for that.....
