07 Ram 3500 Man Transmission Noise (4 x 4)
I can hear both clunking noise and hydraulic squealing noise at idle. When I press in the clutch all noises go away. Transmission works fine. Truck has about 80,000 miles on it. I'm a car hauler. Had the transmission service and clunking noise is still there but not as bad. Hydraulic squealing noise is the same.

Was the tranny low on fluid when they serviced it? Could be any number of things, but I would suspect a bad bearing, especially if the fluid was low. My manual tranny started leaking at the main case seal before I had 500 miles on the truck. With the type of fluid they use in the manuals, I will need to watch the levels closely. The squealing sound (again tough to diagnose without hearing it) is probably a bad bearing on a belt idler/tensioner or alternator, hydraulic pump, etc.

Thanks for your response Tusker. I don't know if level was low before service. I will ask shop. Shop suspect bearing noise also. Squealing noise is also from trans because it goes away when you press in clutch pedal. Shop recommends installing new trans from dealer with 2 year warranty.
