How many qts of oil does the '03 HO take? I normally just dump in 12 qts (1 in oil filter and 11 in the engine) of my '01. Does the same thing go for the '03? Does anyone know if it uses the same fuel filter as an '01...the cansiters look the same. I have a bunch of extras and would like to use those if possible.

 

Yep, same oil capacity.

For fuel filters use the newer 7 micron Fleetguard or better yet the 5 micron Baldwin (PF7977). The common rail system needs the cleanest fuel possible.

I've been adding 3 gallons (total) and it's always at the "full" mark after an oil change and before an oil change. Is 3 gallons 9 quarts or 12 quarts?

I wouldn't ever fill an engine just based on its capacity.. thats why there are markings on the dipstick...

I usually go within a qt of the sump capacity, run it for a minute let it drain and see where its at.

But 12qts is the capacity.

 

My older 2nd GEN (2000 24V) held only 11 quarts.
