When you do your tranny maintenance are you draining the TC? What is the proper method of adding fluid if you do, just through the dipstick? I can drain my TC, but I'm not sure how to refill it properly, I don't want any damage at start up because of no fluid in the TC.
first estimate how much fluid came out, then refill about 2/3rds of that amount through dipstick. put truck in netruel, start truck idle 30secs or so check oil shutdown, add more oil not all of it. restart truck in netruel add oil as needed.
Once you reach the full line go for a drive of 5 mins or more. recheck oil while in N after you get back, add as needed. Starting truck in N first time will get the pump pushing oil right away. someone else will correct me if this is not the right way, but it's how I do it, no problems yet.

Ok, I got it done. I drained both the deep pan and the TC, total of 15 qts! I was happy w/ that, almost as much as a complete flush don't you think? Once it was drained I added 9 qts and started the truck w/ the tranny in N. As the truck was running(and as the tranny temp came up) I added 5 more qts. I took her for a spin once I saw fluid level on the dipstick, came home and topped it off w/ 1 more qt, went perfectly.
