Yep another tranny question
Yep another tranny question
Ok I'm sure this has been asked before but I could not find my exact situation. So I go to take off in drive and the truck revs to 1500rpm then starts to move sometimes it moves right off idle like it should but more often then not it has to spin to 1500. Also it will jerk when coming to a stop between 1-2 i guess. Also sometimes it will lurch forward or jerk while sitting at a light with brakes applied. I dropped pan 10,000 miles ago and it had shavings in the pan, nothing huge just a kinda silver sludge which i assume to be normal wear. today i learned the key trick to pull codes and got 1757 and 1762 so I am gonna replace the solenoid and sensor. But it doesnt shuttle shift so do you think this is the problem? Also when i drained the atf it was dark red and looked burnt that was at 100,000 not sure if it was ever changed before now at 114,100 it still looks new on the stick. Sorry for the long post just wanted to give as much info as possible. OD and reverse are fine. Thanks a lot

Ok, start by having the band adjusted. Do a search here if you don't know how.
That should fix the issue. If not come back and report.
It's possible from what you describe that the tranny has been overheated in the past. This can lead to premature wear/failure.

changed sensor and solenoid today as well as adjusted the rear band, didn't do front because it was raining and I can do it any time. It is miles better based on first test drive. 20 degrees cooler on highway and in stop and go. Now instead of revving to 1500 rpm to get moving now im shifting into second by 1500. no more jerking 2-1 downshift. one thing is before I adjusted the rear band I could move the lever I think that's what it is its the piece that looks like it sits on the piston, anyway i could move it up and down a lot with one finger, afterwards no movement. Hopefully she will live a little longer. Thanks for the help fellas.
