Question xfer case not disengaging

I have a brand new '06 2500 Big Horn and last week I put the truck in 4H for the crappy road conditions we had down here. A week later (after I put the xfer case in 2H) I noticed my fuel milage dropped off sharply. I crawled under the truck and found that the front driveline was and is still engaged.
Anyone else have this problem? How bout a remedy?

You can't turn the front driveshaft because it is still connected to the front wheels. On our trucks the front d/s is turning all the time the truck is moving. The connection is made inside the transfer case for 4wd.

And there are lockout hub kits available if you wanted a free wheeling hub setup. I can't remember the manufacturer but someone will chime in with the info if you want it.

Hub conversion kits: Dynatrac and EMS Offroad. EMS is less expensive, but the kit for newer Dodges isn't out yet (or they haven't updated their website).
