had 5 hrs of scanning for a prob on my truck done a couple of months ago. they reflashed my ecm and pcm. those guys spent 5 hrs and my $486 to do nothing. went to them today to book in to rescan because it did nothing. as they booked me in they were trying to tell me my truck is a 05. its not! its a 03. did i spend $486 for scanning and flashes that will not work because the year of truck was wrong?

 

I could be wrong but I would YES!! Although you would think that they must have entered the VIN or atleast part of it and know what year your truck is before doing any flashes
Hopefully someone more familiar with how the flashes work will chime in.

 

I was wondering if the dealership is the only one who can flash? Can another good repair shop do the same thing for less money?

 

It would not surprise me in the least if they entered the wrong number, dealerships couldn't surprise me with dumb mistakes if they tried.
