Wix fuel filter for 2004 mixup
Wix fuel filter for 2004 mixup
Went to O'Reilly and picked up a filter. Wix #33585XE. Problem was, the number on the filter was 53385XE and was smaller in diameter. They checked another box and the same thing. The number on the box was correct, but the number on the filter was different. They called some one and I was told that there is a TSB about how to make this "new" installation. Told them never mind and I went to Napa and got the right filter.
anyone else run into this? They told me that Wix does not make the 33585XE any longer and that you have to do the "mod" to get the 53385XE to fit.

Here is a podcast link sent to me by Wix. Look for the one labeled 33585XE on the right side. http://www.wixfilters.com/video/videopopup1.html
Summery of podcast: the new filter -- box will be labeled 33585XE but stamp on filter will say 53385XE -- simply slips down into the canister on the center post, then install the lid. The filter no longer snaps onto the tabs on the underside of the cap.
