Wix Filters

Wix are solid filters, so are Fleetguard, Purolater and Fram. All of these filters meet or exceed manufacturers warenty. Read the Moss Magnuson Act if you have questions about filter replacements. It never ceases to amaze me how people get sold on ONE brand. Like this is the only brand that will be good for the truck. When your engine craps out, the filter that was on there last might be blamed, or your motor oil or any other inconsequential factors. There is a lot of black magic, voodoo, snake oil and BS in the marketing of motor oils and filters. Wanna take care of your truck? Change the oil at the reccomended intervals for Dodge and Cummins, (along with other maintenance intervals required), put quality brand name parts on there (just like the ones mentioned above). They all have had a bad apple or two but there name has a great reputation because day in and day out they have proven themselves. The second thing, if you add aftermarket products that void your warrenty, be prepared to pay dearly if your truck poops an engine. WIX is as good as the next if you change your oil regularly. Remeber this too, clean oil never hurt an engine!
If I'm not mistaken, Wix is a division of Dana. There is a cutaway one at my auto parts store, along with other brands, and they appear to be well made. I ran them on my last Ford when it was out of warranty.
Though I agree with what Sloppy said, I am running Fleetguard on my truck, not just because Cummins recommends them, but because I feel they are a good filter, and if you shop around they can be had at a reasonable price.
Also, if I should be one of the very few who would have an engine problem down the road, I think it would reduce the chance of being caught in a "Duck season! Wabbit season!" argument between Cummins and some other filter maker, each blaming the other for the failure...
Just my .02.
