Wix Filters

Does anyone use wix filters? Would like to know opinions on this brand vs. the stock fleetgaurd filters. Our mechanic at works says wix is better. Any comments?
Thanks Wayne

I wouldn't waste your time with them and the possible warranty issues if something did go wrong with your engine. The fleetguard stratapore filters are pretty good filters and recommended by cummins.

One of the CTD's we replaced had a WIX on it....Coincedense? probably but with the prices Geno's sells Fleetguards for why run anything else?

Jeff, is Wix on the prohibited list? I always thought Wix Filters were ok.

Wix filters took out some first generation Cummins engines. They like Fram have reported to have paid up for damages and have corrected the problem with their filters. I'm still afraid to use either. Fleetguard or Mopar for me...

I have friends that uses Wix in their Cummins with no issues. I prefer Fleetguard but consider Wix as a backup.

I have been using Napa Gold air filters. They appear to be very high quality and the intake tube always looks spotless when I change filters. I hope they are good because they are $30 each.

I don't know. It just makes sense to me to use a cummins recommended part especially with all the posts about dealers trying to find reasons to not warranty a repair. If you buy the fleetguard filters from a cummins store (or Geno's) they are pretty cheap. DO NOT buy them from dodge unless you have money to burn. They charge 2-3 times the price for the same filters.

Same goes with fuel filters for me as well.

I made a filter delivery to a NAPA store in Salida Friday. All of the filters where NAPA brand but on the out side of the shipping cartons they had a label that said they were made by Wix. FWIW

You could have bought four Fleetguard oil filters and two fuel filters for the price of two of those NAPA oil filters at Genos.

I think he was talking about air filters. The air filters for his truck at Geno's are $26.95 plus shipping.
