Wiring diagram
Wiring diagram
Where can I get a wiring diagram for my truck? I have not been able to fix my electrical issues as of now and am going to turn it over to a friend to do it for me. He works wiring harnesses and electrical troubleshooting at our local Toyota plant and should be able to figure it out if he has diagrams to work with.
By the way, my symptoms are the combimeter gauges will all drop to zero and then come back up. This is accompanied by the low fuel ding (which is maddening). When the combimeter does its thing you can also see the headlights come on and then go off, the ac compressor goes off and then on, the overhead gets brighter. If it is night and I am running the headlights on bright they will go to regular setting and then come back on bright in a few seconds.
I have cleaned and reshot all grounds under the hood, cleaned all battery terminals and tightened, taken all connectors that I can get to come apart off, cleaned, put dielectric (sp?) grease on them and put back together to no avail. However, it does seem that it will stop for a day or two after I fool with connectors and then the problem comes back strong.
If anyone can help with ideas of what to look at or help me locate a nice fat pdf file to download I would be very greatfull.
Thanks,
Will

I think your problem is the grid heaters are cycling when the outside temp is below or around 60 degree's F. Otherwise, you might have a water in the PCM/ECM harness and there is a TSB (Techical Service Bulliten) out for this problem. You can read up on it here http://dodgeram.info/tsb/index.html
As for the wiring diagrams go to Genos Garage and purchase yourself a Service Manual which will have the diagrams that you need. Otherwise, you can use the wiring diagrams off of a 2005 for general idea about the wiring harness. Since these truck should be pretty close in parts, wires and layout. You may pick up a schmatic here: http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/
Granted there are model year differences that may not be abvious or that had been corrected by the model year 2005.
Hope these work for ya.

Thanks for the responses. I am downloading now. I forgot to mention that when I check for codes I get the "no bus" code. Also, the defect happens in all weather but I have noticed that it goes absolutely ape $h!% after running the truck through the touchless wash.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't there a ECM reflash to correct this problem on 03's? I believe there is TSB info at:
http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003-index.htm
http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003-index.htm
$100 option
You mean the $100 option? Yeah, I left the truck at a local dealer for a week and they did this reflash: Flash: Electro Mech. Instr. Cluster - erroneous indicator lamps. They told me it was fixed but I could tell within a mile of leaving the dealer that it was still no good.
They had the truck for an entire week while I was out of town and they didn't even bother to test drive it after the reflash. Just charged me $100 and sent me on my way. Same da$% dealer group tried to get my wife to put new rear brakes and new fluid on our 03 Jetta TDI. When I looked at the brakes at home you could plainly see that they were less than 1/2 worn. Bunch of crooks!
Thanks for the heads up on the reflash but I guess its just not going to be that easy (or cheap).
