i bought the cold winter front from alaska tent (39.95 plus accessories) because i did not want to spend the cash on the mopar one (119.00) the winter front arrived from alaska tent last week- but i was disappointed with the way it installed. you need to drill two holes to installed screws. you also need to install button snaps in order to secure the winter front. the quality of the front was first rate-but i did not want the hassle,etc. so, i sent it back and ordered the mopar winter front. it arrived today and only took ten minutes to install. very nice. anybody sitting on the fence- i would recommend biting the bullet and get the mopar one. very heavy duty. installs effortlessly and fits perfect!

 

Any pics of the Mopar cold front on the truck? I've been looking, but have yet to see any that I particulary like

I'm not familiar with these winter fronts, so my question is when do you open or close the vent? At what outside temp is it appropriate to use the winter front? Thanks.

Just ordered one myself. Too bad they're currently backordered but definitly worth the price and wait.

 

I put mine on once it started getting to be in the 20s every morning when I woke up, with the vents closed. I took it off again when I was going to do a long highway towing trip. I have yet to put it back on, as the temperatures have stayed in the mid-high 30s.

The front plus the block heater make a big difference in warm-up times. I have the Mopar front. For some reason, it was included for free with my truck. At least, I wasn't charged for it.

 

The one pictured is a whole lot different than just blocking the grille. Does anyone make one like the mopar one for a 2002?

Take a look in my picture gallery for the winter front I made. Works good and it was cheap.

 

So how is that blue tarp held in place? Looks like it probably works just fine, and you're right, it's a lot less expensive!!!
