I only let it warm up for about 2 minutes before I was driving, either way it took forever to warm up.

and trucks don't care about windchill..
try telling my truck that, it was only -4, it has started in that before, but this time was a different story. it did not like it.

I dont know where that other guy lives but it is -32C (-25F) with a -42C (-45F) wind chill here today. and If you dont let your Rig warm up you will blow something! Oil pressure is up as soon as you start it but its still cold as hell.

I can see why some guys leave their rigs running in the winter. must be nice to have the high idle feature. mine is a stick (as in a piece of wood cut to length).

Well windchill is an apparent effect on living creatures.. Because it feels a certain temp.. Nothing actually cools down to windchill, it may loose its heat and get to the ambient temp sooner, but all it cools down to is ambient.. just like if its 40*F out and blowing 20mph the windchill is 30*F, but nothing is freezing..

Yeah, I usually idle 1-2 minutes before driving for the first time of the day... But I have found any more than that doesn't do much for the warmup if its really cold, unless I kick the idle up and use the EB.. that works very well, and uses lots of fuel..

winter front

I have installed some plastic cardboard between the intercooler and the rad as well as blocked in behind my grill inserts and my truck does not want to warm up, it takes about 20KM of driving before any movement on the Temp guage, now after reading this post makes me wonder if I have to leave an opening in the center for "some " air ? I can pull up to a stop light and watch my temp drop noticably as I sit at a red light, does this mean my fan is constantly turning and needs air?? thanks

that is exactly what has been advised against... the hole in the center concentrates the cold air on the fan clutch, not making it engage when the engine needs it too (when it warms up) and the cardboard up against the radiator prevents airflow once the engine is warm and might need some cooling.

Or so I read on a thread that was posted on here a little bit ago..

I called the dodge dealer and they said they are $138.... is that what everyone else paid at the dealer? or are they jacking up the prices?

Mine was 140 from the dealer. Easy to install and worth it.

Got my hands on a Fia today... it looks exactly like the one in the pictures of the Ford, but cut to fit our grill... I could not justify getting a Fia, so I have been searching for a Mopar one, but no-one in the state has any in stock...

With the weather in Saskatoon here )-30 right now), I took the fan off and have 5 of the 6 vents in the hood and bumper blocked off. Just puttering around town, it warms up a little, but you have to make it work for it to heat. Even on the highway towing 6,000 lbs, it only gets up to 90 C or 195 F.

I'm surprised you don't have one for yours yet! You did get the oil changed last week when it was warmer? Not sure of the official temp last night but when I say the temp after the sun was hitting the house where I have the thermometer at it read -14.1 below zero, so I'm sure it was one or 2 colder. I was just out and about and the truck temp never did read above -2 below yet last night they said it would be around 4-6 above.

I know, I know I am going to pick it up in a few.

I did get the oil changed. good thing too, cause the colder temps sure came in quick huh?! I dont think changing the oil in -30 windchills would have been fun.

Bet your truck likes you much better with 5w in it then the heavy 15w it had. I know when we hit -25 below last winter I was sure glad to have 5w synthetic oil with a pour point of -56 below zero as the 15w40 I had used had a pour point of -30 so that meant the oils flow point was -5
