A Smarty is not going to reduce your smoking issue. Especially right off the bottom with a lot of throttle. But it might not hurt it either if you run with timing only. And timing will, or should, help with mileage. Of course, your right foot has more influence than that.
A Smarty will make your engine more snappy and responsive by agressively fueling up. In stock form the fueling up in response to throttle input is somewhat tempered to allow the turbo to spool up and keep smoke down. A Smarty will instantly build torque and smoke before the turbo can catch up, unless you are easy on the loud pedal.
With your bigger tips you're aready admitting more fuel. Smarty does it with longer duration injection, and bigger nozzles do it with bigger holes. Either way you are admitting more fuel. So if you are doing both by running with a higher HP setting on Smarty and bigger nozzles it will be smoke city at lower RPM and heavy throttle. Get the RPM up and tow around 2000 or 2200 RPM. Your tranny will be happier, the EGT will be more reasonable and smoke will be less. Roll on the throttle slower to keep the smoke down.
