Pulled the plastic valve cover and was expecting to see a metal one underneath, but the rockers were right there. Do some trucks not have this metal valve cover under the plastic one?

My '05 does, maybe the '06's dont.

 

Not sure. I think it's an 04.5. All the pics I've seen of others have had that metal cover too.

 

my o6 is all plastic. they got cheap in 06 i guess?

 

What the heck is that thing?

That engine looks like it came from the factory, it is clean. Maybe it's getting built? It is clearly sitting on a engine stand or something.

Funny how the engine looks so clean and that rubber hose leading to that peice looks like it has seen 100k miles of wear & tear.
