white smoke

Last Friday my truck did something I have never seen her do before. After the truck had been sitting for a couple hours, I went to start it and had a good amount of white smoke billow out of the exhaust while in park. After a watching if for a day, here is how the smoke plays out:

1. Start up = White smoke
2. Idol in park = fairly clear
3. Idol in drive = occasionally random puffs of noticeable white smoke.
4. Acceleration = Mix white and black smoke
5. Revving the engine in park = Mix of smoke, almost looks brown

You can see what I have in my sig…any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the insight.

Have the air intake temp. sensor checked. White smoke is usually the cause of a lean fuel condition.

It is not a lean fuel conditon , it is wet hydrocarbon either from not enough heat to burn the fuel during the firing stroke or timing of the injection of fuel issue.

Best way to correct

If this is a timing issue, is that any easy fix. What about a leaky injector?

It could be a leaking injector, I would run some fuel additives thru it.

Take that baby in to the dealer ........... many had those early symptoms of fuel leaking past injectors when it sat and ended up with bad ones . Not trying to freak you out but keep an eye on it .
