Yes, unfortunately, go to the dealer. It's like $7+ a quart. If you get hooked up with a nice service guy, they will allow you to bring back in the empty jugs and they fill them at $3+ a quart - but they are only suppose to do it for shops, so you have to find someone willing to give you a break.

ATF+4 is synthetic and has been only available through DaimlerChrysler. Any Chrysler product dealer has it, about $4 per quart last I checked. I think Vavoline an others claim they have something that works but I've not seen it in local stores and I don't think Chrysler officialy certified it. I think Chrysler recently agreed to license the ATF+4 to major oil companies, so it may start to be found in retail outlets.

This is not true, I complained here the other day (in response to a thread) about having to pay $7.50 a qt. for it from my dealer a few months ago. Someone responded that they got it off the shelf at an auto parts place for $3something.

I bought Amsoil universal synthetic ATF for about $5.75/qt. I picked it up at the distributor using the "preferred customer" discount. Without the discount and with shipping it would be quite a bit more expensive. Probably about the same price as ATF+4 at the dealer. I would also like to add that the only 2 people I had contact with at Amsoil were both A-holes, FWIW.

so that's odd...
the Mopar gallons used to be $16 and at the end of last year they just shot up to $28/gallon. Now you can buy an approved equivalent for $15/gallon and Mopar is still holding their new & high price?

Well I guess I'm going to shop at Advance Auto. The dealers around here want 7.50 per quart and 29.75 per gallon. You save a whopping .25 cents... Yippie....

Cheapest in Vegas is by the gallon @ 29+!

Don't ask me what the cost is per quart as I may have an aneurism just thinking about it.

What dealer has it now for 4$ a quart? I will be ordering from them if they ship.

Man I had to buy 24 quarts at advance auto today. I am putting the new trans in tomorrow. As if the ATS wasnt enough now I spend a buttload more on fluid. Couldnt tell the wife I had to spend another 100 bucks on fluid, she about divorced me when she saw how much I spent on a trans.
