Email the guy, there are companies that will go pick it up, crate it and ship it. If you can get him to bring it to forward air for a fee it would be much cheaper (Around $300 I think). I bought a 4 wheeler from a guy on ebay and he said no shipping, what he meant was, no shipping if I have to do all the work.

I have seen this company advertised before as carrying Cummins Engines. It looks like they are based out of Oklahoma City, OK. I have never used them and don't know anything about them except from the advertisement and their website. Just throwing this out there to be helpful and to offer another source to check out. Good luck.
They probably are a dealer for http://www.reviva.com/ I'm a dealer but they only offer up to 2002 on the Cummins.

The only place that I've ever had any luck finding a 04.5+ engine is:

Custard Core Supply
Categories: Auto Engines & Engine Parts
3015 Hansboro Avenue, Dallas, TX 75233
(214) 631-4344

They are complete takeouts if he has one.

It normally is when you keep your truck like your sig states... 100% stock...
You start throwing major HP at it .... it's bound to go sooner or later....
I've noticed my heat shield turning colors too, like she's getting really hot?
Hope it's not the start of problems for me too..........
