How often should the egt probe be replaced. The last thing I want is for it to get brittle and break off and go straight for the turbo.

 

Brittle & breaking off is not going to happen. if a proper K style probe.... but they do start reading inaccurately. Not sure how long that takes but it's well past 80,000 miles. (5-10 yrs ago it was a lot less.)

Easy enough to test. Boiling water at 212*F... or find something hotter and compare with a infared heat gun temp.
