Wheel Bearing?

I have a noise. It is an almost squeak/radel but not quite, It does not go away while braking but it can not be heard unless you get about 20mph. I also hear a low howl when i make a right turn. It is 30 out side so the rim heat check does not work.

Does this sound like a wheel bearing?

Or could it be the U joints. Both have never been replaced.

I just had to replace one of mine. It started out sounding like I had a bad spot on a tire. Then went to a grind. But was not consistant with the RPM of the tire. It to was more noticable when I turned one way! Jack up your front end so your tires are off the ground and see if there is any playby grabing the tire top & bottom then turn your wheels to one side or the other andtry to move your Ujoints or sometimes you will see rust around where the caps are at. Also while you got your wheel turned turn your tire by hand around and around. Hope you find out something. NAPA does carry the hub with the ABS portion at a lot less than OEM part.Good Luck

bearing has no movement in it but when i bend the U joints i can hear it squeak.

Is this the source or can you not hear the bearings if they are bad when you spin them out of the truck.

Easy, Guy. You'll find that you normally don't get responses at night.

I'm going to guess that if you have no bearing movement, and a sqeak from the u-joint, then you have a bad u-joint. There are people here that will tell you to do both while you are in there anyway, rather than take it apart twice. I've not done either to my truck yet, so take that for what it's worth.
