Whats up with the oil?
My dad has an 07 5.9 that is his daily hot shot truck. He has changed the oil regularally in it from day one and it has never used a drop of oil between changes or anything. Now at 135,000 he gets the oil changed the other day and now everytime he says he hauls a load he has to add about 2 quarts to it. There is no sign of oil leaking or anything of that nature. any ideas or help would be great. thanks worm
If the blow-by tube is the same on all 5.9's its down by the starter. Its just a tube sticking out under neath the engine. You will see its slightly coated with oil around it and on the tube.
You say the smoke he is getting is black? I wouldn't guess it is the turbo then, as it probably would be blue smoke.
How heavy is the load that he is hauling? Does he have a pyrometer or anything in it to monitor engine temps?
