What's that sound from the right front?

What's that sound from the right front?

I've got kind of a roar that seems to be coming from the right front. I have a 2003 3500 SRW 2wd with 190K. My best guess is a wheel bearing. It's been a many a year since I've had a bearing go bad and this doesn't exactly sound like I remember but I don't have any other good ideas. I'm going to take it for a rotate and balance of the tires tomorrow and ask them about it but was hoping for some ideas before I get there. Best I recall, there is no lubrication required or probably able to be performed on these, right? Can just the bearing and race be replaced, or does the whole hub have to be replaced? It looked like on RA's site there were no bearings you could buy for the front.

The hub/bearings are replaced as an assembly.

Have you jacked it up and rotated it by hand?

Here is an excellent write up about changing ball joints, but it shows the wheel bearings and how to remove them quite clearly.

Thanks, Jeff. The shop told me it was both bearings and outer tie rods. I've ordered the parts and am paying my cousin to do it since it will save at least $300 this way. I got estimates from $950 to $1500. I will refer him to the video and probably watch it myself when I have a few more minutes.

Assuming its a 4x4, I think I'd go ahead and do the u joints on the axles while it is apart. Ball joints too, if they are at all sloppy.

Ball joints are good. It's a 2wd. I asked the shop when they gave me the estimate if there was anything else in there I should change while it's apart to save on future labor and he said no, not really. Thanks for the tip, though.
