Got my '03 with 24,799 on the odo.

Only non driver induced failure was right front wheel bearing/hub assembly.

The driveshaft and exhaust were replaced after my Dad got a spool of wire wrapped up in the shaft.

Sneaking up on 200K and right now I need to do the water pump.

How difficult is that job?

Really I think I got a real sweetheart of a truck!

102,000 Miles:

Warranty:
- Water pump
- 6-disc stereo/cd player went bad

My nickel:
- Front stabilizer - had to install a duel front stabilizer due to a scary bad death wobble
- 4 sets of tires
- Dash lights on the speedo
- Light in the heated seat switch for driver side
- axle u-joints (thank you to all that had input here)
- ball joints (all)
- tie rod ends

CTD no problems. Great power. All in all a good truck but somewhat discouraged with the axle u-joints and ball joints, figured they should last longer for what you have to pay. The Truck does get a lot of compliments, but then again there not paying the bills….Always have been partial to Dodge since the Power Wagon.

Answered my own question. A pain to change water pump, but not a big pain.

Coulda been a LOT worse!

Oh yeah, sure, brakes, tires etc.

But only right front bearings and water pump not drive related like brakes and tires.

Must be mentioned I go to great pains NOT to beat up my truck on dirt roads and such...

I got the truck for the Cummins.... but it's not a bad truck at all!!!

Noticed yesterday that my '03 was getting less easy to start and then that the idle was rough. Bought and changed fuel filter and voila!

Sneaking up on 200K

My only big complaint about these trucks is the frigging power door locks and windows. Endless headaches, I swear every week a new problem comes from them

It would have been interesting to see the differences in replies if this thread would have been started as two separate groups: ONE group with no mods and ONE group with mods.

Although not attributable to all, its possible that many of the problems listed in replies can be directly related to mods. The answers of this thread really aren't an accurate indication of the quality of these, or any trucks. Power mods, previous owner abuse, guys who think they know how to do their own maintenance but really don't, an owner who plans to keep the truck 3 years vs. an owner who plans to keep it 20, etc. etc. Sometimes the worse enemy of any vehicle isn't the vehicle but the person in charge of maintaining it.

Now that I think of it, a completely opposite thread would be very interesting. Maybe, "How many have had no major problems with your truck...please list complete truck history." I'm sure the answers would be enlightening.

I have 24,000 miles on my 06 and have had no problems at all. I did replace the stock shocks with Bilstiens, but that was choice rather than being really necessary.

Im 142,000 and installed a gdp liftpump at 100k. At 104k the torqconverter started slipping and a bushing was being eaten up inside so a full rebuild was done. At 136k i installed 4 new ball joints up front and new hubseals in the rear. Right now iv got a vacume leak so i disconnected the pump for right now.
