gauges before power.
my first power mod was a quadzilla module. never did any damage, drove better than stock, made good power for the price and ease of install, and is incab adjustable.

I like my Quad XZT, but you need gauges first. I can get to 1400 with just my XZT

Banks gets a little bad rap here, and probably deservedly so for a few reasons including overpriced and cust. serv. leaves something to be desired. Having said that, I have had a terrific experience with my six gun. It is designed to protect everything first. So you put the coals to it and it feels tranny slip-- it backs off. I have had it for 100k now. I have not had a single problem with my truck to date. No tranny issues, no LP issues, nothing. As far as recommending it though.. I can, for your stated purpose, but that is a personal choice. I have a smarty that does things wonderfully and better than the Banks, BUT-- I can certainly tear things up with it if I don't use it wisely. Take the advice you see here. Get gauges AND understand how to read them. There are other good products out there-- like Quad and such that are a lot more inexpensive. But I do not believe that anything else gives the combo of power and protection the way Banks does. The only other criticism of Banks is it really doesn't stack/play well with the other stuff out there. If I did it all over again knowing what I do now... I'd get the Smarty with a good gauge package and just keep it on lower levels until i could invest in other stuff to take advantage of what the Smarty could offer. But you asked for SAFEST... so back to what I said about Banks... safest.

Well the point is you don't want to hurt your truck. So you have to know what it is doing. Every truck seems to react a little differently to the exact same mod so you need to know what yours is doing. See above where 1400* is reached on just an XZT. It is possible to exceed a safe EGT limit with a mild mod. So you need to know. That is the point being made. Beyond that, the point I was trying, and not doing a good job of, to make with the Banks is that for the peace of mind knowing the module will back off automatically before harm is done (because it will monitor all that on its own) was worth the cost if you're not looking to do a lot of bombing and extra mods. That's all...

Check out Diesel Manor or Geno's Garage for Gauge packages. They come with everything you need to install. They are not prewired, but it is not a difficult task. The hardest part will be drilling and tapping the manifold for EGT, and that is not very difficult. Do a search on it, lots of good info.

the recon by quad is probaly the most gauge for the buck and it looks nice and doesnt take up much room.the triple tree pillar gauges may be more acurate but they do take up more room than the recon.the camander looks like the best one out there but for just a bit of added power the recon should do you just fine.if the trinity doesnt become available soon im gonna get a comander.

Depends On How Or What You Are Useing The Truck For.
In My Case I Do A Lot Of Towing And Spend Days On End In My Truck
The Three Most Valuable Add Ons I Have On Mine Are Decent Shocks (i Chose Bilsteins), Jake Brake And An Air Ride Seat.

Gauges first!!!! I suprised that the "Big 3" hasn't already made them an option from the factory. You'd be suprised how hot these 3rd gens run stock let alone with added power. I purched the Edge w/ Att because it had the gauges I needed plus the added power..

The quad commander will still need the exhaust manifold drilled and tapped for the pyro other than that it's just tapping into a couple of wires with what they provide and installing a trans temp probe that's provided.

One of the quadzilla boxes standard or race is probably exactly what your looking for. I've run my std box on the 60hp setting for over 50,000 miles with no problems.
