What oil goes into Transfer case? ATF or Gear?

What oil goes into Transfer case? ATF or Gear?
I know its a kind of a dumb ? but ive seen both used. some use atf and some use gear....

ATF+4 is what is spec....I've used Royal Purple Synchromax, but it's just too expensive. So I went back to ATF+4.
If you wanted, I'm sure you could run any of the manual transmission lubes as well, but they are not spec for the T-Case.

i only ask because i need to top off. like everybody else i have a tcase output seal leak

i guess if you stick your finger in and pull it out and it is red, it is atf. if it smells like crap and is dark in color it be gear erl.

MINE DON'T LEAK EITHER

No leaks here and it is ATF+4 that you should put into it. Now how many of those miles did you drive it to the shop?
