What is this on my motor (photo)?

Ok, I've been wanting to know about this for a while now. I've noticed that it is not mounted to all motors and wondering what the heck is it?

That is your throttle position sensor. TPS. Dodge calls it the APPS.

If you removed that thing you could put a fuel filter there. The 05 Dodges have the APPS mounted on the accelerator itself.

I thought they started putting the APPS under the driver's side battery sometime in late 03, early 04, yet your signature says 04.5. If that picture is of your rig, did you buy the right truck?

No idea. I have an 04.5 and as you can see in my gallery, I don't have that "feature".

Mine is an 04.5 and I have it too. I was wondering what that was. And, I never noticed that the 05's didn't have it until this thread and taking a look at Superduty's engine pic.

Also, the cable that controls your tranny shift points is under there. There's a white clip you can pull off and then adjust your shifts for higher or lower rpms if you were having any problems with that.....

those plastic covers are standard on trucks with auto trannys. trucks with manual trannys do not have those plastic covers.

04.5 is a parts bin clearing model, sure it got the 325 package but they found all sorts of wayt to hook up that sensor, three ways in fact on one half model year truck,,,,,,,,, makes me glad I don't have to wrench on em all day long, enough to make ya nuts.

Black Box

That's the black box that radios back to DC everything you do to your truck. It even has a small camera and microphone to record conversations while working on your truck. The wire you see goes to the inside computer, relays to the radio unit to broadcast the signal via your antena. Then DC recieves all this info and figures out what you've done to your truck. Be very carefull when tampering with this. I've heard they show up in helicopters and swat teams if they hear you talking about removing it. DC is up there my friend, and there watching you.
