What is this hole for?
What is this hole for?
I have a hole in the side of my air filter box, no hoses or anything near it, is this factory or did someone put a hole here? I just got this truck and find it odd for this to be open like this.
I noticed it while doing an underhood inspection!
Whew!!.......Glad I passed the test!
I asked some random guy getting out of his 2009 Ram in a parking lot to see under the hood of his truck, he let me have a peek but no hole in his filter box. I stuck a plug in mine for now, should I get one of those filter minders?
What does it look like and where should I get one?
I have no idea how long the previous owner may have drove the truck around like that, I do know he had it in for a filter change among other things at the dealer last year,(I have the reciepts). Do you suppose the mechanic could have missed this?

Good eye to spot that and ask the question.
You could have saved your self a pile of money. Anything smaller than that hole could go ito your turbo->intercooler->motor= really light wallet
. You should be able to get one at the ******* or give your local cummins a shout. Not sure on the cost but cheaper than new motor. You could screw/pop rivet a piece of metal or similar over it and use a good coat of RTV between the two pieces and over top, my not look sexy but would be functional, and keep the bad outta your motor.
