what clutch for 07 six speed

I have 55k on my 07 5.9 six speed manual, and the clutch is going out. What should i replace the stocker with?? I have heard south bend is a good one??

It has the edge/attitude on it, and slipped for the first time today w/it in level 3 pulling a pretty good load. I then turned the edge down to level one and did not feel it slip again. However if it slipped in level 3 (not really getting after the throttle that hard) it is only a matter of time before it slips all the time, no matter what. Thanks for your input.

South Bend makes a great clutch, and I liked the one in my '97 and when the time comes with my '07 ill be going with them again...

Good way to still get some life out of it while you save up the coin for a clutch is just keep the revs up before you shift, the lower revs/boost rolling into it is whats slipping it. Still cant do anything about it, but hopefully you can limp it till you get the new clutch in...

I was already in gear and midrange rpm's applying a bit more throttle when it slipped. Then after i realized what was going on all i had to do was hit the throttle a little harder than normal it would slip again... It will be fixed, asap, as we pull with it daily in the summer, can't be limping around a truck pulling loads, just wanted to make sure i am going the right route.

I just put a clutch in mine with about 65,000 miles on the clock. I went with the Con OFE from SouthBend. Basically, I have the exact same setup as you - Edge Juice w/ Attitude, and I'm running a larger tire 35 x 12.50s. Like you, I noticed the "first slip" at around the same mileage. I limped around for another 15k but had had enough.

I've read where guys exceed the HP limit on this clutch and haven't had any slippage problems. I haven't had any problems myself. It can handle all my truck can currently throw at it. One thing to note though is that the elimination of the DMF definitely causes the clutch to be noisier. I can hear it if I lug on it at slow speeds. It doesn't bother me though. Clutch pedal is nearly identical to stock. It's a good clutch for pulling like you'll be doing as well.

That's what I'd go with.

ConOFe all the way. I beat the tar outta the internet looking for options. Lots of cheerleaders for Southbend on this site and rightfully so. I looked all over and called everyone. With the dual mass flywheel, you have to go with a stock clutch. The custom clutch guys won't mess with them. I called Southbend and without hesitation, he recommended the OFE. You'll need a new flywheel, clutch and hydraulics. $1300 plus shipping. Same price from every supplier on this site. Only the shipping will change. It's heavy so shipping is worth shopping around. The pedal has to pushed in all the way to get in gear from a standstill, but the weight is about the same. It is noisier but not bad. I don't really notice it much anymore after two weeks. Only a little chatter when I back up. I'd buy another one tomorrow if I had to. The stock clutch just won't take more than 350 hp. Guys will argue that but I talked to LUK who supplies the OEM clutch and he wouldn't reccomend anything over that. If guys are getting more hp through their stock clutch, they're lucky. Anything over 350 hp or 700 ft/lbs gets into the "safety factor" that's built in.

Call DTR and order one today. Keep the money in the family.

Captain is right about the HP on a stock clutch. I am not hard on clutches at all, and with 357 RWHP (proven on 2 different dynos) my stock clutch started slipping at around 90K miles. I am saving my pennies to buy an upgraded clutch. I am still undecided though, it's either a SB Con OFE or Valair organic ferramic.

The local tranny shop i deal with reccomended the "South Bend Ductile Double Disc", is this the same as the ConFe you guys speak of?? He said this one is good to 550 hp and 1100 lbs/ft of torque? He quoted me a price of $1650 installed, plus $395 for upgraded hydraulics if needed. Is this a decent deal? I don't have the time or the will to do this on my own!

The conFe is a single disk aimed more toward performance.It will be very grabby for daily driving and towing.The 3250DD ductile is SB's non-sfi clutch.It will do excellent for daily driving and towing and will hold in excess of 550hp.The ofe is what I am running and have just now reached its limits with my mods and will be going to a 3600DD.Its all comes down to what you need for the power your gonna make.If my truck was to stay at 500hp I would stick with my ofe,stock pedal feel,not grabby and will hold that power all day long.If you are shooting for more power then save yourself the cost of buying things twice and go straight to a DD.Just my opinion.

Thanks alot, that's what i needed to know. This is a work truck w/edge on it for a bit more towing power and mileage. I usually run it in level 2, sometimes higher if empty. It does tow some pretty heavy loads, but don't plan on exceeding the midrange capabilities of the edge. It sounds like the 3250DD is the one for me then, i don't want to have a grabby/notchy clutch for the daily driver. Anyone know how that price is?? Thanks again!

Going from what the 3250 and hyd. upgrade sells for it looks like they are charging around $350 for install on the clutch and around $100 for install on the hydros.That seems to be inline,maybe a touch high on the hydros but overall a fair price.

Edit: You will have to have the hydro upgrade,its a G56 thing.

Ended up going with the SBend double disc, as the local tranny shop had them in stock and it was only gonna be about $250 less for the ConOFE. Should be done this afternoon, can't wait!

i was looking for clutches for my 06 while the motor was out, i stumbled on this website www.phoenixfriction.com they make a solid flywheel conversion, i dont know anybody that has one but i would like to try it.

Let us know how you like it. Like others above the OFE is a great clutch as long as you're not going much over 500 hp.

UPDATE: We have been running the SouthBend dual disc all summer, and i have hated the clutch from day one. I even sent it back to the shop that installed it once, and they did some adjusting to it, which helped a bit, but it still is horrible. I kept thinking it would get better with some time getting used to it, and break-in, but it has gotten worse.

I would not reccomend this clutch setup to anyone after my experience. My local shop is swapping me out to a ConOfe, which he says i will like much better (as i liked how it shifted before, stock). The clutch i have is rediculous to try and pull/back a trailer with! I sure hope the conofe treats me better. Otherwise i just threw 2k+ down the toilet.
