I had the Silverstars and they are brighter than stock but really didn't put that much more lighting down the road. Black asphalt roads when wet would literally disappear from view at night.
Today I swapped out the Silverstars with the GE NightHawks and will see how they perform.
If going with the Silverstars get the Ultra.

Update: The GE NightHawks seems to do a better job of throwing the light down range. The NH isn't as white in color as the SS but it gets more light out there.
So I would say either get the GE NH or go with the SS Ultra and bypass the standard SS.

all of the aftermarket halogens i have seen are worse than stock, they sometimes change the color of the light being thrown, but do not throw more lumens. other than the HIR's but they dont make those for our trucks...

I haven't seen anyone say they have tried the HIR's. They look good but who knows.

The HIRs can only be used in 9005/9006 applications. None available yet in the 9007.
I'm thinking about replacing the 9005 SS in my foglights with the Toshiba 9006 HIR.

I put Silverstars in last year and finally burned one out the other day. I tried the GE Nighthawks because becuase they were about 40% cheaper at Wally Mart. I can't tell the differance, so I'd recommend the Nighthawk versus the Silverstar for that reason. I've never seen the Silverstar Ultra.
