Brighter Headlights Option???

I need brighter headlights. I have the white lights option that came from Dodge but I still think it is dim. I have also installed the Brite Box but that requires you to have your brights on.

Rather than installing driving lights is there an option to install even brighter headlight bulbs in the factory headlight housing?

Has anyone tried PIAA replacement bulbs? I want whatever is next to not being legal or maybe even over the edge. I drive a lot of dirt roads with critters etc and I need the light.

Is 100 watt the max that I can use? Do I have to worry about melting the headlight plugs. What wattage can I get away with? Can they handle the current that the 80 watt filament demands or 100 watt.

If I replace the bulbs do I need new grounding and a set of relays? I am not too mechanical so I am looking for a plug in solution.

Thanks,

MD

I've been looking at the different kinds they have out there because I'd like brighter ones also. I have seen them on Ebay and other places. <br>Here's a link I was looking at. I am still confused as to which one is brightest though. <br>http://www.sylvania.com/bin/carApp/c...p;x=33&amp;y=8<br><br>Just make sure you get the right kind for your truck. A lot of them I've seen advertised are for direct systems (no reflector at the back) and the 2002 and earlier Dodges use the reflector system. If you put a non-reflector light in there you won't get much light out of it because it doesn't direct light towards the reflector.<br><br>Chris

I put a 100 watt set from JCW in a Dodge Caravan and melted the plugs. A lot brighter till that happened. Lights would always go off at the best time. 8) Truck plugs might be beefier.

Chris,<br><br>Thanks for the link. The Silverstar looks like a good option.<br><br>What do HID systems require for installation? Do we just replace the whole headlight assembly with a new headlight or just the bulb?<br><br>http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htm<br><br>

The HID thing is a different headlight altogether, form what I undrstand. See this site. The price difference is what tells me it's an entire headlight conversion.<br>http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/hid-9004.htm<br><br>Chris<br>

Re:Brighter Headlights Option???

check the kennedy diesel site they have a kit they market for the Suburban includes wiring and relays to support the extra current draw by bigger lights maybe this will work on the dodge or can be adapted easily.<br>Dan

Re:Brighter Headlights Option???

Not too long ago I installed Wagner LazerBlue bulbs at around $25.00 for the pair. They are a little brighter then the stock ones, but I still would like to go brighter without doing a bunch of re-wiring.
