Weird Noise from passenger side while driving

I have a 2006 Dodge Mega 5.9 with a smarty jr set at sw2 default torq and timing.

While towing a trailer today, maybe 5,000 pounds, only during a incline it seemed the turbo made a fluttering noise. Heres how it happens... I have no idea what it is....

Cruise was set at 55mph, started climbing the hill, turbo psi climbed at usual, egts climbed as usual, truck did not shift down. Truck was in tow haul mode. Nothing out of the ordinary, while i was watching my egt get to around 1400 and wondering if i should take it out of OD or out of cruise, a strange noise came from where I would say the turbo is.

My wife and say it was like a fluttering noise, a deep waffling noise. Hard to explain. I immediately canceled the cruise and I'm guessing it was the turbo that made a loud whistle wind down noise. (never heard either of these two noises before.) I began to accelerate again and the trans went out of OD and the truck went on like nothing ever happened.

Boost stays steady as it goes up and down, no erratic psi. Egt climbs as normal nothing out of the ordinary.

Next hill I had the cruise set again 55mph and once the egts got to around 1400 it make a weird noise again. Once the trans shifts, the egts drop, boost drops and you no longer hear the noise.

If the trans shifts out of OD you never hear anything weird on a hill. Flat ground or not towing nothing weird.

Got home, looked at all the turbo connections, exhaust and manifold, and inner cooler joints, only thing I saw was a black soot area from one of the rubber joints to the inner cooler. I tightened everything all up just incase, took the trailer up and down the freeway and I can not replicate it, I'm thinking mostly because there are no large hills around my house.

Any ideas or maybe how I can make the noise when I take it to a mechanic?

It's just your blowoff valve reducing the pressure. It's keeping your EGT's from getting too hot. I'd wager its your programmer.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Just take it out of overdrive on large hills [thumbsup]

Check all your hose clamps for the turbo to the CAC (intercooler), one is loose and you are hearing boost pressure escaping out of the hose.
