Water Separator Drain Lever
Water Separator Drain Lever
When closed, is it supposed to be out (pointing towards the front?) or in?
The bottom of my motor is wet and it appears to be comming from the drain tube. When parked overnight there's a 3" dia puddle under the drain...SO I check the manual and it says:
"...pull outward on the drain vavle lever to open, to close vavle return to inward position..."
Well, mine is outward now (pointing towards the front of the motor) and has been since I took it to the dealer last week, and that's when the leak started. When I push it inward fuel streams out of the hose, which is assbackwards from what the manual says...
Just looking for options to avoid taking back to the dealer (90 miles)
thanks!

what did dealer do? sounds like filter houing is leaking. run the pickup for 5 min , shut it down and look to see if the filter housing is wet (diesel). theres a o-ring on the scew on lid. it may be on wrong or bad. by the way, the lever sould be out.
The dealer serviced the tranny and did the latest re-flash, that's all i took it in for. I suspect as they did their "1000 point inspection" they drained the filter and maybe even inspected it, who knows. I know they at least drained it 'cause when I picked it up, I noticed the front of the axle was wet.

I would change the fuel filter myself....I extended my drain hose so I can put it in a container not run down on driveway-NOW > open drain valve > drain > 1 1/8 - 6 pt socket to remove filter top > lift out old filter (filter will be attached to top) > pull old filter off > Remove old O ring > Install new O ring > Push new filter on > Set all down into canister > start by hand threading > Do not over tighten > SHUT DRAIN VAVLE > Go in the cab and turn your key to the run position (do not start) 30 seconds should be enough to prime you up. Start and check for leaks.
GOOD LUCK

Pointing towards the front is closed. Pointing towards the driver side is open.
I think they consider it in the outward position when it's facing towards the drivers side, and inward when it's facing towards the front.

This is what happened today...drove 90 miles to the dealer, pulled up onto service drive, told him what was occuring...and showed it to him and it had already dripped twice in the short time that I was there! I left it, they degreased the bottom, put 20 miles on it, and told me to pick it up 'cause it didn't leak for them. Drove 90 miles home and it's still dry. Go figure.
thanks!
