water pump weep hole?
water pump weep hole?
I started another post yesterday titled "something is leaking". I found a small amount of fluid leaking. I followed it up and see some fluid just under the alternator pulley. In the other post some people said probably water pump. I am trying to find the source of the leak. Does the water pump have a weep hole? The pump area is very hard to see. I still have some warranty. If is is my water pump and I can verify it. Is it worth paying the $100 to the dealer for the warranty work. Or should I just do it my self?
If it is the water pump I would use your exisiting warentee. Mine went out at 130K, was in a situation where I did not have time nor tools to do the repair myself, paid the dealer $680.00 to remove and replace water pump. The pump at the dealer was right around $300 and the rest was labor and supplies. I believe you can pick up a aftermarket pump quite a bit cheaper than what the dealer wants, but by the time you buy the gaskets, pump, and antifreeze your going to be over $100.00 anyway plus not counting your time to do it.
