warranty ? (death wobble)

ok ive had death woble happen 3 times in 2 weeks, that will pucker you up heh!
so i bring the dodge in to service, they check it out call me and say " track bar and upper balljoints all covered by warranty but alignment is not " ok i say
next day calls says track bar is not covered i say ok but let me call you back,so i go online to see how much a thuren track bar is all good ill buy that instead $279 dealer says $330 so i call the guy back tell him ill get my own he says "i already put it in" i say take it out he says" blah blah blah ok ill give it to you for 250 installed so he doesnt have to take it out so i say whatever ok ill do that
so i go in to pick up the truck and argue about warranty hey say i have to call my extended warranty company and tell them whatever gimmie my truck
so i drive home and now when i turn in my driveway or any quick steering i get a clunk *** i call them and they say bring it in

my question is the track bar under warranty
and shouldnt the alignment be covered since they ripped it apart
after close inspection of work performed the swaybar end link is bent also and the diff is leaking now,(they said they had to drain the front end ) so now its leaking
im calling and geting my money back for extened service warranty
truck has 69000 miles on it and im still not convinced they fixed the death wobble

First off, is it a Chrysler service contract, or some aftermarket junk? If it is aftermarket, good luck?

Second, allignments are never covered under warranty at any time, period.

So if a warranty covered item needs replacing...and the service required means it needs aligned afterwards...they hit you for the bill? You must be kidding. That's like giving you the tire, but charging for the air in it.

Thats like in my case, Loosing an injector and filling the crankcase with fuel, than after the repair telling you you must change the oil again in 2-300 miles at your cost to get all the fuel out of the engine. Not much different to me.

I had an extended warranty on my 97 gasser and it wasn't to bad. you just had to follow step a - step b and on down the line. eventually you got what it covered. Better ones pay directly to the dealer for work done with their credit card, think it was Coast to Coast I had but not sure.

I feel for you. I have only 32000 miles on my truck and have already had to replace stuff because the dealer could not do the work and I didnt want to risk the type of stuff happening to your truck to mine. Im a tech and I know the dealers around northern Va are having a hard time finding people to work and do it for nothing. I think it would be a big help if a web site could have a list how people were taken care of at dealers. I will dump Dodge if I have to do much more work cause they dont understand the first couple of visits. maybe thats why there warantys have gone down they know they cant get them fixed.

I had the death wobble thing on my 04.5. Yes they did replace some things under there and yes it had to get realligned and yes it was all done at "no" and I mean "no" cost to me. I don't know who your dealer is, but I would can them and all the other dealers that would not get the allignment covered on warranty. It isn't your falt they had to replace parts that when put back together need alligned.

Who's my dealer? I am my dealer! We own two dealerships. I am sorry, I was incorrect on the above statement. In some cases if the vehicle has less than 12,000 miles Chrysler will pay. Now, I often see my service manager run something else to cover a FEA on a customers vehicle if they bought their vehicle here from us.

To the original poster..............

If your truck is under 3 years old or under 36,000 miles the track bar is covered. Period. Unless you have done some real serious suspension mods that could have caused extra stress, your dealer may hassle you. If you have an aftermarket extended warranty good luck! I don't handle them. We sell Chrysler service contracts for Chrysler products, and GM protection plans on GM products. I always tell people, only buy and extended warranty from the people who made you vehicle. Otherwise it could end up being a hassle. A lot of these aftermarket warranty companies try to put used parts on your vehicle, we've seen that a lot. And most of them are very bad pay to the dealers. That is why if the warranty company won't pay with a credit card at the time of repair many dealers will make the customer pay and let the customer collect from the warranty company.

brought the truck back today for a steering clunk that wasnt doing that before they touched it
service writer comes back and says "inner tie rods and 1 outer and a intermediate steering link or something like that something to do with the column"
i say ya diddnt notice the sway bar endlink bent he says "no ill check it out"
comes back says it looks fine i say let me show you
so we go back to my truck and i show the tech who agrees its bent the service writer says i think they are like that from the factory
hahahaha i say look at all the **** trucks on the lot and tell me they look the same then he says its bent not broken i got so ****** off at this little bugger i left so i dont hurt anyone left the truck there and now hes claiming none of this other stuff is probably under warranty either i said park the truck outside ill pick it up
then he tells me i owe another $200 because of diagnostics i laugh and say when i brought it in you should have fixed everything the first time ***?

now im scared to go to the dealer because i have a very bad temper and probably wind up in jail if i go, so im sending the wife
shes not very plesent either

You being "your" dealer. I would only hope that "you" would find some way to get the allignment paid for in this situation. I don't care who the dealer is. It is called customer relations. If it is not covered buy Dodge. I would think that a "good" dealer would not even question the allignment cost. Also, I would hope that you treat "your" customers wright in these type of situations and it does sound like you do. That is one of the factors that I look at when "next" years truck is purchased.

Not to be smart, but it sounds like you may be causing yourself undue problems buy going in there with a bad attitude. You never did say how many miles were on you truck, or who your extended warranty company was? How about some details and maybe I could advise you? I do see his point about about the sway bar link. If it was broke, I'd say defective part, but if it is bent, it got that way somehow, didn't bend itself?

i had the exact same thing happen to me at 69,958 miles.i dropped it off wed night the dealer over here said they couldnt find a problem on friday mornin so i go up there and even reproduced the problem with the tech he said (thats normal dodge has a tight suspension). i told them i dont want the truck back till yall have fixed somethin and this problem is gone. so i go up front to see the finance director who is also my good buddys mom and a long time family friend and tell her i need somethin to drive she puts me in a fully loaded 2500 4x4 auto so i drive that for a couple days. finallly monday the service advisor calls me and tell me there gonna replace the upper and lower ball joints on both sides and it will need an alignment but x-warr wont cover the alignment. ok so anyways i go to pick up the truck wed and get goin down the road and sure enough it still has the death wobble and now the truck pulls to the right pretty good. so i call them and tell them i had to pay for an alighnment pay a 100 dollar deductible and not a dam thing has changed and now my truck pulls. he tells me well u need new tires thats why its pulling and probaly why its shaking i said bull the truck never pulled before yall touched it. i remind him im in the same business i do this crap all day long everyday thats not why its pulling the tires are fine ur tech did a crapy job and i want the alignment redone and i want a spec sheet when hes done. sure enough they didnt wanna re do it and i when i went to take it back i was over 70000 miles and they just argued everything and kept sayin it was the tires. so i get my buddys truck switch rims and tires there bran new michelins and sure enough it pulls and still has deathwoble but now im over my warr. sure does suck to have a crappy dealer around u
