About the idle, with the Jake on and high idle at 1100RPM, do you still think it's bad to idle? With that load, the EGT's are around 800degrees. I kinda think that's ok?
I think you'll find the OEM winter front is much better at keeping the heat in.

I run that way when I am hunting to help heat the truck up, but I have noticed over the years that doing so really ups the soot loading of the oil, with that much backpressure and no boost. Just something to be cautious of, but it is much better than just idling.

That winter front does look a lot better...does it go all the way back to the firewall?

I hear you on the oil abuse.

Any other ideas? The Duramax runs 2 thermostats, anyone know anything about this?

The dmax may run 2 (no clue if they really do) from the V design.

No it doesn't go to the firewall, just covers the front of the engine bay.

I'm not sure if you mean early in the morning or parked somewhere and no access to a drop cord. Well.
My brothers friend came down from Canada and we put a small 12v waterpump on his heater circuit between the motor and heater core, added a small 12 v oil pump to the transmission fluid line going to the cooler, added a second block heater and now he pulls something like 1600-1800 watts of juice to keep it warm. He used a spray on undercoating on the oil pan of the engine and trans (automatic) and has insulation on ALL of the water/coolant lines. When the truck gets parked, he shuts it off, flips a switch on the dash and plugs in his heavy duty drop cord. The pumps circulates the block coolant thru the heater core and the other keeps the trans fluid flowing thru the cooler which is in the radiator core and gets it warmed up as well. When it gets down below zero his coolant temps are warm to the touch by bare hand and it hits the 140 mark in about 5 minutes after start up.
Hope this gives you some ideas. I didnt get any pics, sorry. I think the water pump was from Jabsco and the oil was a chinese knock off of a holley pump.

Thanks for the info. I'm worried more about the driving aspect of the truck. It will warm up fine, especially with the Espar, but when travelling down the road, or getting in and out doing errands, or at work, it's just a cold hearted truck. The Mega Cab also doesn't hold heat very well lol.
