Cold Idle Engine Warming With Edge EZ
I found a tech bullentin from http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2001/18-019-01.htm. It talked about bringing low idle up to 1200 rpm and droping 3 cylinders when certain conditions are met, to help bring the engine up to temp faster. THis would be great for me becouse I live in Michigan. But I have an edge EZ and dont know if the two will work together? Has anyone else tried this or know if it will work?

Well Toby if I worked at Dodgetown I'd have you bring me a 12 pack of cold ones and I'd hook you right up! You need to enable the function with the DRB scan tool at the dealer. Some places charge 1hr for any scan related hookup. We usually go 1/2 hr for that kind of stuff, or I've done it for........12 packs of cold ones

Toby, that tsb covers pretty much all the 24v engines. I believe with your 02 you do not have to flash the ecm, but just enable the function with the scan tool. I know that's all I did to my 01 and the feature worked in the cold and I did not have to flash the ecm. If the tech isn't familiar with this the "idle enable" it is under the "misc" section on the DRB menu (although they should being it does get cold there). If a tech in the desert can figure it out, they should too.

It has to be butt-stinking cold for the 3-cylinder to kick in. I only got it to kick in once last winter.

I'm under the impression that the 01.5 and later trucks already have it in the ECM, so it just needs enabling.
If you have rear disc brakes, you're good to go. If not, you'll need the flash. I'm not positive, but that's what I remember.

I have rear drums, so I guess that I need it to get reflashed. Does anyone know if this could hurt my computer? I have heard of guys having a reflash done and then having problems. Any reply would be appreciated.

Dave, I wouldn't worry about a reflash causing problems. This was more of an issue when the 24V was pretty new on the street. Most DC techs have enough experience with them now to where it's not a problem.
Besides, the cold weather idle up feature is VERY nice to have, and imo, worth some potential hassle.
