I adjusted the bolt with an allen key (didn't take note of the allen size). The Jam nut is a 16mm. Turned it in to take up the backlash, not sure whats in there but it seems to work great. There no slop in the system between the wheel and the steering gearbox anymore. The play problem seems to be fixed, but the truck stills wanders alittle. Next step is an after markert stabilizer.
Thanks for you help guys.

I know that was probably covered under warranty for you - but I'm wondering if that would be covered on my '03 with the 70K mile drive line warranty?

thanks!

Just got this truck and it has more wear on the inside of the left front than the right one. What is the likely cause of that? Toe, caster, it does wander some and seems to pull to the right.

Just looked at my caster adjustment under the truck and one side is turned forward and the other backward?

The SSSSS I made at the shop made a noticeable difference in the parking-spot steering effort, even with the 37" Toyos:

I have a 04.5 3500 4x4. At 13k miles it had a problem with centering and wondering. Checked the ususal things, and being it was still under warrantee, took it to the dealer. They replaced the steering box. Said it was faulty from the factory. It only has 21k on it now, but noticably better than when new. Go figure.
