Am I reading too much into this? Smoke on start up and while driving under hard acceleration, and the not so smooth idle.....


Opinions?

 

Do you hear any extra engine noise? Mine went through 3 injectors last year, but it was all accompanied by engine noise. My '92 did this same thing, it was the lift pump. But I always seem to have rare symptoms for problems.

 

I'm no expert, but both the cr trucks I've had made a bit of light smoke on a cold startup.

Absent any miss, vibration, or one cylinder making an extra loud clack, I don't think I'd be too concerned.

 

I would worry about any white smoke. The injector is leaking diesel into the engine cylinder and washing the oil out.

 

My truck did that last summer on cold starts while on vacation in Florida. I put in a double dose of Power Service and after a short time it went away...and never returned.

Its worth a try. I was told it may have been injector stiction?

Just make sure your truck isnt making oil!
